Terms of Service

The rules for using the BotBrawl website

Last updated: 2026-06-26

1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the BotBrawl website and services operated by BotBrawl Events Inc. ("BotBrawl", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the site, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

2. Accounts and eligibility

You must provide accurate information and keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. Accounts are intended for adults who manage a team or robot. You must be old enough to enter a binding agreement in your province of residence, or have a parent or guardian do so on your behalf.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the site for any unlawful purpose or to infringe others' rights;
  • Upload false, misleading, or offensive content;
  • Attempt to access accounts, data, or systems you are not authorized to access, or interfere with the site's security or operation;
  • Impersonate another person, team, or organizer.

4. Robot registration and event participation

Registering a robot or team does not guarantee acceptance into an event or league — organizers may approve, waitlist, or decline entries and apply their own rules, safety checks, and fees. You are responsible for ensuring your robot complies with the applicable rules and passes safety inspection. Combat robotics is inherently dangerous; you participate at your own risk.

5. Waivers and assumption of risk

Participation at events requires a signed liability waiver, which is a separate document between you (or, for a minor, a parent/guardian) and the event organizer. Uploading a waiver through this site is for organizer review and record-keeping; it does not replace the terms of that waiver. Where a participant is a minor, a parent or guardian must sign.

6. Fees, payments, and refunds

Entry fees, pit-pass fees, and other charges are processed securely through Stripe. Fees, and any refund or cancellation policy, are set by the event organizer. Unless an organizer states otherwise, fees are non-refundable once an event has begun.

7. Your content

You retain ownership of content you upload (such as robot photos, team logos, and descriptions). By uploading it, you grant BotBrawl a non-exclusive licence to host and display that content for the purpose of operating the site, rankings, and event promotion. You confirm you have the right to upload it.

8. Rankings and results

Rankings, ELO ratings, and results are provided for informational and competitive purposes. We aim for accuracy but do not guarantee that results are error-free, and organizers may correct records.

9. Disclaimers

The site is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, BotBrawl and its organizers, staff, and affiliates are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless BotBrawl from claims arising out of your use of the site, your content, or your breach of these Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario, subject to any non-waivable rights you have under consumer-protection law in your home province.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the date above and may ask active participants to agree to the revised Terms the next time they sign in. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept them.

14. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent to info@botbrawl.ca.
